J. A. Seazer (J・A・シーザー J.A.Shiizaa) is one of the two main composers of the music in Shoujo Kakumei Utena. He composed the choral rock music that appears during the swordfights that are sometimes referred to as duel choruses. He also composed one of the iconic songs of the anime, "Zettai Unmei Mokushiroku." His music, in general, combines rock guitar, synth music, and a chorus singing recondite lyrics.

Ikuhara Kunihiko was a fan of Terayama Shuji, a Japanese director of avant-garde theatre and film, with whom J. A. Seazer often collaborated as composer. After Terayama's death J. A. Seazer continued his work with the theatre group Engeki Jikkenshitsu Banyuu Inryoku, from which many of the duel choruses originated in earlier arrangements. Banyuu Inryoku itself also contributes to the chorus of the songs in the Akio Ohtori Arc and End of World Arc, as well as in the two J. A. Seazer soundtracks: Gasshoukyokushuu Tenchi Souzou Sunawachi Hikari and Bara Tamago Sosei Roku Sofia - Chuusei yo Yomigaere!
